How to Plan an Eco-Friendly Wedding

Sustainable eco-weddings are making waves. Here are 8 top tips to help you plan your own Eco-Friendly Wedding!

1. Recycled or Virtual Invitations

With so many different stationary options to choose from these days, it’s now easier than ever to ensure that your invitations are eco-friendly. Choose from recycled card and paper, fabric or even wood for that rustic effect. Perhaps look for suppliers who offer to plant a tree in honour of every purchase? This is quite a popular gesture recently. Another popular option would be digital invitation. This allows you the freedom to design and create your desired look and instantly deliver digitally to friends and family whilst also being the affordable option.

2. Vintage Wedding Rings and Jewellery

Have you thought about embracing that ‘Something Old, Something Borrowed’ saying? Opt for vintage jewellery or family heirlooms, whatever you choose, it will always have a personal meaning which makes it that extra special.

3. Rent Tux/Suits for Grooms/Groomsmen

Calling all grooms! Renting your suits is always a more affordable option and hey, even better for the planet!

4. Outdoor Wedding

We know that the weather is a huge factor to consider here (especiall in North Wales!) but how gorgeous does an outdoor ceremony sound? You can’t get any eco-friendlier than nature. Think of the stunning views that North Wales has to offer as a backdrop and the minimal décor required.

5. Reuse Flowers & Donate Leftovers

Flowers can make a huge impact when decorating your venue but be sure to get the most out of your flower arrangements by reusing them in your ceremony as well as your reception. Rather than throwing all these pretty flowers away, consider giving them to family and friends. No one wants to part with their wedding bouquet especially after choosing each bloom so carefully, why not choose to have them preserved? 6. Confetti Considerations

While confetti can look amazing in photos, some confetti tend not to be a great eco-friendly option, and a lot of venues have strict rules about throwing confetti. Consider using dried flower petals or bio-degradable confetti.

7. Consider Vegan or Vegetarian Menu

Serving a vegan or vegetarian meal could be a great eco-friendly alternative to the classic Wedding Breakfast. The best caterers could easily create top-notch dishes for you and your guests.

If this isn’t your thing, consider choosing caterers that source from local farmers - and the key to remember while creating your menu is to keep it seasonal.

8. Wedding Favours

How many times have we accidentally left that wedding favour on the table or shoved it in our clutch bags only never to be seen again? Even though it’s a lovely gesture to thank your guests, perhaps it’s time to re-think the favours and opt for edible gifts instead? Guests will thank you for that midnight snack after all the drinking and dancing!
